The goal of the newest project of the „Pécsimami” Public Benefit Association is to improve women’s labour market position. To this end a series of events are to be held in Pécs in order to raise awareness about social inequalities. The first of these events was held on the occasion of the National Grandparents Day, and it was a huge success.

The family day set out to put a spotlight on the key role of the grandparents within a family, since for those families where there is a supporting background from grandparents, it is much easier to balance work and family. Several families cannot begin to imagine everyday life without the active assistance of the grandparents. Therefore the event, which was held on the 2nd of September at Uránia cinema, was all about them.

The evening celebration was attended by more than 300 grandparents, parents and children. In addition to offering bouncy castles, face painting, sparkly tattooing and a family tree workshop for the young ones, the family members thanked the continuous care provided by the grandparents with an official charter. After the ceremony Ribizli the Clown put on a show for the children and adults as well, which was followed by the final programme, the screening of The Stolen Princess to a packed house.
