The technical details of civil engineering technologies can also be made interesting for the public. This is the offer of the district heating substation at PÉTÁV Kft., designed with the help of our PR agency.

Almost every second person in Pécs lives in a district-heated apartment, but only a few of them know how the technology delivers warmth to their rooms. However, interest is clearly growing, with hundreds of people every year keen to get a behind-the-scenes look. Now, all the conditions are in place at the central site of the city’s district heating company, PÉTÁV Kft.

With the support of our PR agency, the company has renovated the substation of its Tüzér Street headquarters and made it open to visitors. This industrial facility, which operates 24 hours a day, turns the hot water from the power plant, which on a cold winter’s day can reach temperatures of over 100 degrees Celsius, into pleasantly warm water for radiators and taps.

Although all district-heated buildings have such an equipment, they are usually not available to the public. But here modern technology can be seen in operation, with the guidance of PÉTÁV engineers.

All of this is supported by spectacular graphics and experiential elements. Visitors can follow the past and present of district heating in Pécs through colourful pictures. They can learn about the city’s most famous district-heated buildings, the functions of the various equipment in their homes, and see tools used decades ago – including ‘portable’ welding machine weighing 200 kilos. All the graphic design, production and visual elements were created by our PR agency’s colleagues and partners.

The district heating substation is open to groups only, by appointment. You can register on the PÉTÁV website (only in Hungarian), via the interface developed by the digital division of our PR agency. Even if you don’t find a free appointment, you can still enjoy the experience: a virtual tour of the facility, also created by us, can be taken from home.
